This recipe has been tested, although I did not use any jalapenos myself.
Chana Masala (Savory Chickpeas)
Ingredients
32 oz. garbanzos
Saute and put in separate pot:
1 medium green pepper, chopt
1 medium onion, chopt
1 C. cauliflower, chopt
In saucepan, heat:
2 T. vegetable oil or ghee
Saute until mustard seeds pop, stirring:
2 T. fresh ginger, minced
1 T. jalepenos, minced
2 t. cumin
2 t. coriander
2 t. mustard seeds
Then, add:
1 1/2 C. tomatoes, chopt
1/2 C. tomato sauce
2 T. lemon juice
1 t. turmeric
1 t. garam masala
1 C. cilantro, chopt
Directions
Heat and cook awhile and thicken with 1/4 c. tomato paste
Add to vegies and garbanzos in large bowl and mix. This shouldn’t be too
runny since it goes in pita. Adjust with tomato paste, add salt or more
minced jalepenos to taste.
Heat and serve in pita bread. Or with basmati rice. Or naan.
